The Pressed Chair was designed by Harry Thaler in 2011. Created within Moormann’s approach of “eliminate the unnecessary, prioritise function,” this model was inspired by the press technology used in automotive parts manufacturing plants. The initial ideas emerged at the Cologne furniture fair; Thaler set out with the idea of transforming a two-dimensional sheet into a three-dimensional chair. Although the prototyping stage seemed straightforward, the design process was quite lengthy and detailed. Numerous technical steps were carried out for delivery, including moulding, bending, adding indentations, and securing the side surfaces. Load-bearing capacity tests were conducted by TÜV Rheinland, confirming it can support up to 120 kg.
