Dawn Sweitzer, eğitimine University of Michigan’da Mimarlık ve İç Mekan Tasarımı bölümünde başlamıştır. Burada aldığı eğitim, onun tasarım anlayışını ve estetik duyusunu şekillendirmiştir. Mezuniyetinin ardından, tasarım dünyasında deneyim kazanmak için çeşitli mimarlık ve tasarım ofislerinde çalışmıştır.
Kariyerinin başlarında, tasarımın farklı yönlerini keşfetme fırsatı bulan Sweitzer, özellikle mobilya tasarımına ilgi duymaya başladı. Bu süreçte, tasarımın işlevselliği ve estetiği üzerine yoğunlaştı.
