By Grupa, was founded in 2006 in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. The studio’s founders are Filip Despot, Ivana Pavić and Tihana Taraba, lighting and furniture design field specialise. By combining functional design with aesthetics, unique and modern products creating philosophy possesses. Using a minimalist and elegant design language, high quality materials with handcrafted workmanship blended lighting designs particularly stand out studio, lighting designs particularly stand out in this regard.
Education and Early Studies
- Filip Despot studied at the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Zagreb in Croatia. During his architectural studies, he discovered his interest in both the functional and aesthetic aspects of design and focused on innovative projects that balanced these two concepts. Despot began his first design projects working in architecture firms, where he learned to prioritise functionality in large-scale projects.
- Ivana Pavić studied at the Zagreb Academy of Fine Arts and Design. Her early work focused on experimental projects using materials such as ceramics and glass. Her passion for craftsmanship was later evident in the lighting and furniture designs she produced at By Grupa. Pavić specialises in material research and innovative craftsmanship techniques.
- Tihana Taraba, Zagreb Architecture Faculty graduate. He began his career in architecture and interior design in the field of, then transitioned to industrial design with Grupa and made the Taraba’s architectural layout, product design form and functionality perfectly in a way combining ability has developed.
